Meta Ads for service businesses: the structure that brings low-cost leads

Meta Ads, that is advertising on Facebook and Instagram, for a service business isn't 'boosting the post'. It's a structured system for buying attention that converts: chosen audiences, deliberate offers, tested ads and a page behind that turns the click into a contact. The 'boost' button skips all of this, and it rarely brings clients.

The structure I use starts with the audience. Not 'everyone interested in law', but defined segments, plus lookalike audiences built on people who already converted. The right audience is half the result: you can have the perfect ad, but show it to the wrong people and it won't convert.

Then the entry offer. On Meta the traffic is cold: people weren't searching for you. Asking for the consultation right away converts poorly. A quiz, a guide, a free first analysis lower the barrier and bring far more people into the funnel. It's the same logic by which the ebook funnel in the legal niche brought 1,017 contacts at €1.30 each.

Some real numbers from my accounts, all lifetime from Ads Manager. Public-procurement firm (Spatara): 498 leads at €1.34 on €666 of spend. Debt and business-crisis practice (Volpe): 480 leads at €2.30. AsteNow in real estate: 669 quiz leads at €0.90. Low costs not because the channel is magic, but because the structure is right.

Above the leads sit the warming campaigns, which often get ignored. For Spatara the awareness campaigns brought 1,467 Instagram profile visits at €0.10 and 2,804 landing page views at €0.05. They build the warm audience that retargeting then collects. Awareness and acquisition aren't two separate things: they're the same system.

The typical mistake is launching a single broad campaign with the wrong objective and judging Meta 'doesn't work' after a week. Meta works when there's a layered structure, cold, funnel, retargeting, a low-barrier offer and the measurement to know what to keep. Without that, you're just burning budget with a button.
